Tinted Glass

POEMS

Waking up from a slumber,
We open our eyes with glee.
Oh what a beautiful world it is,
A wonderful sight to see.

The vision as clear as air,
The glass is pristine.
We see the world as it is,
Making our minds serene.

As the years pass by,
Our expectations come afore.
The glass changes colour,
A shade darker than before.

The tinted glass is coloured,
The colour that we please.
It is our expectations that colour it,
And the colouring easily won't cease.

The world is a different place,
Seen through the tinted glass.
The reality is marred,
For a while the illusion lasts.

As the tinted glass gets darker,
We see what we want to see.
Blinded from reality,
We are as happy as can be.

One fine day,
Fate comes with a hammer.
And breaks the tinted glass,
Stripping it of its glamour.

The glass shatters ,
Into a thousand pieces.
Each one piercing our soul,
Deep in our recesses.

It is then we see,
What was hidden from us.
It isn't a pretty sight,
Reality can be quite a fuss.

We learn the hard way,
Of what we haven't seen.
That is was better,
For the glass to be clean.

Back to the beginning,
Will we make the same choice?
Or not colour the glass again,
As says our inner voice.
