Pin Pricks
POEMS

How do you like your pain?
Like pin pricks that are slow.
Or would you have it served,
As a brutal blow?
The brutal blow,
Ends it fast.
Making it all,
A thing of the past.
Then why is it our desire,
To this day.
We always choose,
The pin prick way.
Oh the choices we make,
How foolish can we be?
Knowing the road leads to a cliff,
Which we can already foresee.
Happiness is all,
That this is about.
But after the moment has passed,
Pin pricks always win the bout.
Every time we are happy,
For the efforts that were made.
Pin pricks ruin it all,
And happiness thus fades.
Courage is what we lack,
To keep the pain at bay.
Because in our hearts we know,
Happiness is the price to pay.
We always wish and hope,
That there be a simpler way.
For we don't want a brutal blow,
And pin pricks too get a nay.
Our soul is torn apart,
To choose between happiness and pain.
How do we make this choice,
When there is nothing to gain.
A choice has to be made,
For everything was in vain.
And so we ask ourselves,
How would you like your pain?
