A Cup of Coffee

Those who know me well, know my love for coffee. A good cup can lift your spirts. As a grumpy person potentially every morning, I need my morning cup to wake me up.
But today is different. Today I sit at a quaint cafe in a small town in Auroville and sip on amazing Cortado. I take a sip and savour the richness of the dark roast. The smooth velvety coffee slides down my throat. And for a long time, I just sit there. And do nothing. No books to read, no phone to ogle at, no friend to converse with. Just me savouring my coffee and nothingness.
What a luxury. To have a moment of nothing in a world full of chaos.
I often hear people wanting to slow down. I like my fast paced life. Not the chaos that comes with it though. Just the pace of it. And I also appreciate these small moments of peace in the chaos.
I think that's what cafes are for me. My quiet place in the hustle bustle. A quiet cup every now and then keeps me going. So much so, a very dear friend once told me, "Whenever I feel you need to talk about something, I always take you to a cafe. Because, that's where you always open up. With a cup of coffee." I guess that is me in my comfort zone.
Every place I go, every town, city and country, I find a cafe that becomes my comfort zone. My "go to" place when I need a break. Isn't that a wonderful thing? To have a place that instantly slows down life for you. And when you are there, sipping your coffee, you sit in silence. And enjoy nothingness.
I think that's how I find my balance. A true Libran I guess. I enjoy my fast paced life and slow coffee breaks. A little dance of the scales tipping either side till they find their balance.
And that is why this cup of coffee is so important to me.
